brand new to yoga or awake?
At AWAKE we know that it can be a bit intimidating to walk into a yoga studio for the first time. We are committed to making the experience comfortable for you!
When you arrive you will be greeted by a staff member who will sign you up for the class, show you around the studio and introduce you to the teacher. After you take the class you can speak with the teacher or the front desk person about your next steps in terms of continued classes.
You are welcome to come to any of our classes, as we encourage our teachers to teach to who is in the space. But if you want to learn the basic poses, check out our Foundations Class. If you want a recommendation about which class to start with, please contact us. We would be happy to speak with you; we love talking yoga!
What to bring & What to wear:
Wear comfortable clothing and bare feet so you don’t slip on your mat.
If you have a yoga mat, wonderful. If not, we will lend you one. Eventually you will want your own mat, as your yoga mat becomes your new “home.”
If you are coming to a meditation class and have a meditation cushion, please bring it. Otherwise we have blocks and blankets you can sit on.
Bring water to stay hydrated during class.
Most importantly! Have fun! Yoga is a path of liberation, freedom and joy! So, even though there are challenges on and off the mat, we come together as a reminder that we are never alone and that joy is possible! Can't wait to see you soon!
CLASSES TO START WITH
foundations classes: Saturdays 11:00 am.
SATSANG: SUNDAYS 7:00 PM
The Foundations classes are wonderful for new students or returning students who want to learn more about yoga and refine their practice. We break down all the poses and it is an opportunity for you to ask questions as well. The Satsang is a discussion/meditation class where you can learn the WHY behind the practices we offer at AWAKE. It’s also a great way to get to know your fellow yogis and get ready for a new week.
We look forward to seeing you on the mat soon!
